Abstract
908,578. Clutches. MASCHINENFABRIK HEID A.G. Dec. 22, 1960 [Dec. 22, 1959], No. 44077/60. Class 80 (2). An electromagnetic clutch comprises a non- rotary magnet body 1 slidable axially together with a clutch disc 7 against the pressure of a spring 8 on energization of a coil 2 to engage an axially fixed clutch disc 12. A constant air gap 13 is maintained between the body 1 and the disc 7, the body 1 being mounted on a hub 6 of the disc by a ball bearing 4 and the hub being splined to a shaft 11. The discs 7, 12 may have friction surfaces which may be toothed to increase the frictional engagement, or the discs may have dog teeth. Disc 12 may be fast with a bevel pinion.
