Abstract

908,071. Stillages. CAMBRIAN ENGINEERING INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 1, 1960 (Dec. 17, 1959], No. 43005/59. Class 78 (4). [Also in Group XVII] A pair of substantially cylindrical articles from 21 to 24 inches in diameter, particularly 40-gallon drums, are supported side-by-side on a framework comprising two sets of curved or V-shaped cradles such as 1, 2 and 5, 6, each of which supports such a drum with the ends of the cradles subtending an angle of from 65 to 110 degrees (preferably 95 degrees) at the drum centre. Each cradle is supported by two vertical struts such as 9, 10 with the four such struts 9, 10, 13, 14 supporting corresponding cradles of the two sets lying in a common plane with a spacing of from 7¢ to 22 (preferably 15¢) inches between the two innermost struts 10, 13 of the set of four. The struts mentioned, and the further horizontal struts completing the framework as shown, are so arranged that the drums may be deposited on the cradles by a fork lift truck which, without alteration of its fork spacing, may be used to lift the framework with its forks in the spaces immediately below the cross struts 21 and 28. As shown, the base of the framework incorporates further cradles 3, 4, 7 and 8 to allow for tiering of drums using a plurality of the frameworks.
