908,006. Rotary drum driers. SMIDTH & CO. AS., F. L. July 10, 1961, No. 24898/61. Class 34 (2). [Also in Group XII] A rotary drum drier comprises chains each attached at one end only to the inner surface of the drum and conveyer flights arranged in helices so that a length of each chair slides over part of the surface and edge of at least one flight. A rotary drum 1 having a refractory lining 2 has chains 4 suspended in axially spaced curtains from rings 3 attached to the lining which are adapted to contact conveyer flights 5. The width of each flight is from 12 to 45%, the pitch of each helix such that the flights from an angle of between 40 degrees and 80 degrees with the generatrix of the drum, and the length of chain is from 50 to 150% of the internal diameter of the drum.
