Abstract

907,986. Humidity determination. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 24, 1959 [July 29, 1958], No. 25506/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (3). [Also in Group XL (a)] Humidity of air is determined by passing radiation of 1216Š through an air sample and into a photon Geiger counter having a window permeable to the radiation and filled with nitric oxide. Comparison is made with the counting rates obtained with air samples having known moisture content. The source of 1216Š radiation is a glass or metal vessel having a lithium fluoride window and filled with tritium gas at a pressure of 1 atmosphere and with or without hydrogen. The metal or glass part of the vessel can be coated internally with a reflecting layer of platinum and can contain a tungsten filament for facilitating dissociation of the trietium and hydrogen.
