Abstract
907,857. Air-break switches; actuation of switches. SWITCHGEAR & EQUIPMENT Ltd., and OXLEY, D. A. J. Nov. 18, 1960 [Aug. 19, 1959], No. 28300/59. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXIV] Switchgear operating mechanism, e.g. that of an air-break isolator, comprises a drive-shaft 25 extending transversely to, and with its axis 26 intersecting the axis 16 of rotation of, a driven member 34 arranged to open and close the switch contacts, the drive-shaft being connected to drive the driven member through coupling means including a crank-pin 29 connected to the drive shaft 25 at a point displaced from the shaft axis and inclined at an acute angle to the shaft axis and extending inwards towards the point of intersection of the shaft axis and the driven member axis, the coupling means being such as to permit relative rotation between two parts of the coupling means about the axis of the crank-pin and about an axis transverse to the axes of the crank-pin and the driven member. In Fig. 3, the crank-pin 29 extends through a close-fitting slot formed in the wall of a cage 33 attached to the driven member and providing a socket for a ball 34 on the end of the crank-pin. In Fig. 5, the crank-pin is journalled in a rotary sleeve 41 which has trunnions 46, 47 journalled in lugs 44, 45 on the driven member 34.
