Abstract
797,756. Regulating switches. ADVANCE COMPONENTS, Ltd. March 21, 1956 [March 21, 1955], No. 8147/55. Class 38 (5). A switch for connecting one of an assembly of electrical impedance elements between two conductors comprises a control member rotation of which moves plug and socket connectors away from each other and a first impedance element, moves the elements to substitute a second for the first, and then moves the connectors towards each other and the second impedance element to complete the circuit. The assembly 2 of impedances 1 has projecting socket contacts 3 which co-operate with contacts 6, 7 on a fixed member 14 and a movable member 15. A shaft 8 fixed to the member 15 is slidable through the assembly 2 and member 14 and is fixed to a plate 22 slidable on guide rods 19, 20. The plate 22 and member 15 carry parts 23, 24 which co-operate with an eccentric 25 on an operating shaft 26. Rotation of the eccentric moves the member 15 and contact 7 to the right, together wih the assembly 2 which is moved by a bush (not shown) on the shaft 8. The contacts 3, 6 and 7 are thereby separated to disconnect the impedance 1 previously in circuit. During further rotation of shaft 26, an arm 11 thereon engages teeth in a sprocket disc 5 in the assembly 2 so as to rotate the latter through 60 degrees to place the next element 1 opposite contacts 6, 7. Continued movement of the eccentric moves the assembly 2 and member 15 to the left to engage contacts 3, 6, 7. The assembly 2 is located in its angular positions by a latch 13 which engages slots 12 in a disc 4 carried by the assembly, and by a spring detent 27 which engages in the spaces between adjacent elements 1. The shaft 26 carries a notched locating disc 30 co-operating with a ball 32. An indicator disc 33 is driven from shaft 26 by a Geneva-mechanism. According to the Provisional Specification, the shaft 26 carries an arm having gear teeth at its outer end cooperating with gear teeth on the disc 5.
