[Also in Group XXV] In a draw-out contactor unit having movable contacts operable by a handle to isolate the contactor further movement of the handle unlocks the unit for withdrawal from its cabinet. The contactor 13 is carried on side arms 3 in slides 4 in the cabinet 5 and a front plate 2 secured to the arms 3 supports the rotatable handle 17. Arms 10 pivoted at 11 to the arms 3 are coupled by a bar 9 to slidable isolating contacts 8 which are guided by a slotted member 12 to co-operate with fixed socket contacts 7 projecting from bus-bars 6 in the cabinet 5. The shaft 23 of the handle 17 carries a crank member 27 coupled by a universal joint 28 to a link 29 which is coupled by a further universal joint to the bar 9. Anticlockwise rotation of the handle 17 through 180 degrees to the Fig. 1 position withdraws the contacts 8 from the sockets 7 and the handle 17 engages one end 21 of a semi-circular projection 200 on a disc 19 fixed to the plate 2. If the handle 17 is subsequently pulled against the bias of a spring 24 and rotated through a further 90 degrees over the projection 200, a " dog " 24 on the crank 27 engages a slot in a disc 25 freely mounted on the shaft 23. Locking bars 26 are eccentrically coupled to the disc 25 and are disengaged from lips 260 formed on the cabinet 5 as the handle is turned to the Fig. 3 position. The crank 27 may operate contacts (not shown) to interrupt the contactor coil circuit when the isolator handle 17 is moved from the closed position and extensions on the arms 10 may be arranged to effect opening of the contactor contacts if they are welded together.
