Abstract
A catalyst for the polymerization of ethylene is produced by causing substantially pure cobalt or nickel to react with titanium tetrachloride in absence of ethylene and stopping the reaction before all the metal has reacted. In some of the examples, ethylene is polymerized in the presence of a hydrocarbon diluent, and the above catalyst, to give liquid and solid polymers. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 841,292.
