Abstract

907,704. Theatrical appliances. PACKMAN MACHINERY Ltd. Dec. 20, 1960 [Dec. 22, 1959], No. 43556/59. Class 132 (1). Apparatus for releasing artificial snow comprises an electric motor controlled by a switch and connected to produce relative rotary motion between an elongated container and artificial snow, when a quantity of the snow is held within the container, the container being formed, with an adjustable slit-like opening extending axially along its length and being shaped to produce a tumbling motion of the artificial snow. A container 1 with two longitudinal openings rotates with a shaft 2 driven by an electric motor 25 operating through a slipping clutch to allow small free rotation for filling. The container has two hinged parts 13 which are urged to closed position by springs 15 and abut adjustable screws 16 to provide slits of various sizes. One shaft may mount several containers and there may be several shafts to provide rows of containers. Brackets 3 depending from a tube 4 suspended by ropes support a shaft. The electric motor and driving sprocket and chain are mounted on a bracket. The containers may have an internal paddle to tumble the snow, the paddle being driven to rotate within a stationary container.
