907,521. Electric motors. FOSTORIA CORPORATION. July 6, 1960, No. 23682/60. Class 35. [Also in Groups XXIX and XXX] A sealless motor for valve operation comprises rotor 69 enclosed in welded cylindrical housing 63, 67, 68 secured to a hollow shaft 40 by keys 61 and nut 66, and a stator 19 separated from rotor by cylindrical wall 13, which wall and housing are of non-magnetic corrosive resistant metal. Main body 10 has inner end plates 11, 12 forming a stator compartment, and end plates 25, 41 support graphite bearings 37, 48 for shaft 40, which bearings will permit lubrication by liquid passage therethrough. Lower end of shaft 40 has annular lip 60 engaged between thrust races 56, 57 in compartment 55 of outer base-plate 50, where valve shaft 72 enters hallow shaft 40 via liquid seals 74, 75, the internal portion of said valve shaft being threaded to engage internal thread 70 of shaft 40. Rotation of motor causes rise or fall of valve shaft 72, its state being indicated by the position of magnetic ring 36 with respect to scale 35, the ring being attracted by magnet 77 on rod 76 attached to valve shaft, the whole being enclosed in chamber 31, 34. 33 is an air vent, and 28, 44, 52 are interface seals.
