Abstract

A lubricating composition comprises a mixture of a fluorine-free, highly-chlorinated paraffin containing eight to twenty carbon atoms and a finely divided silicic acid and/or a salt thereof. Preferably the chlorinated paraffin has a chlorine content of from 40-80% by weight. The finely divided component may be precipitated silicic acid, silicic acid obtained from silicon tetrachloride, hydrated calcium silicates, talc and kaolin or bentonite and the products obtainable therefrom by reaction with fatty amines such as dodecyl, octadecyl or dimethyl p didodecyl ammonium bentonite. The compositions may also contain dyestuffs and anti-corrosive ingredients such as phenoxypropene oxide.
