Abstract

A dyestuff composition suitable for dyeing nitrogenous fibres, such as those of wool or polyamides, from aqueous baths comprises a 1 : 2-chromium or -cobalt complex compound of an azo dyestuff which is free from sulphonic acid groups but may contain a b -substituted alkylsulphone or an acylamino group, an alkali or alkaline salt, a non-ionic dispersing agent and an amine of the formula:- <FORM:0906807/IV (b)/1> in which M represents a sodium or potassium atom, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical and R2 represents a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical, or R1 and R2 together with the nitrogen atom form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, e.g. a piperidyl or morpholino ring. Specified alkalis or alkaline salts are sodium hydroxide, carbonate or bicarbonate and trisodium phosphate. Specified non-ionic dispersants are the condensates of ethylene oxide with alcohols or phenols. Specified amines are the sodium or potassium salts of N-benzyl- or N : N-dibenzyl-sulphanilic acid. Numerous metal complex azo dyestuffs are specified.
