Abstract

905,981. Labels. M.A.M. RUBBER MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. Aug. 24, 1959 [Aug. 29, 1958; Jan. 19, 1959], Nos. 27875/58 and 1940/59. Class 73. [Also in Group XXXVI] Identification means for a body such as an electric cable comprises a flexible strip of woven glass fibre tape 10, Fig. 1, impregnated with a heat resisting flexible material, e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene or silicone rubber, and having at one end a metal strip 14 formed with pairs of prongs 15, 16 which are bent over the tape to secure it as it is wound around the cable. The metal strip may be provided with a third pair of prongs which are bent over the end of the tape to secure the metal strip thereto but as shown in Fig. 2, the tape has a coating of adhesive 13 and the end of the tape is folded to enclose the plate 14. The tape 10 is placed around the cable and a pair of prongs 16, Fig. 4, folded inwardly as shown. The free end of the tape is then retroverted and the pair of prongs 15 folded inwardly on it. The surplus tape is then cut off or the free end is again retroverted and tucked underneath the prongs 16.
