Abstract

A fungicidal composition comprises an organic fungicide in an amount of from 5 to 95% together with (a) 1 to 25% of an aryloxypolyglycol ether, a fatty acid polyglycol ester or a fatty acid glycerol ester containing at least one unesterified hydroxy group or a palmityl alcohol polyglycol ether composed of 5 to 25 glycol radicals and calcium palmetyl polyglycol ether or a fatty alcohol polyglycol ether, the fatty alcohol and acid having 8 to 25 carbon atoms and being reacted with polyglycol ethers containing more than 2 and up to 50 glycol radicals, (b) 1 to 15% of a fatty acid metal salt, the fatty acid having 8 to 25 carbon atoms and the metal being calcium, magnesium, zinc, manganese, iron or aluminium, (c) 0 to 10% of a solid organic acid, this acid being a C3-C10 aliphatic dicarboxylic or polycarboxylic acid or a C3-C10 aliphatic hydroxy-carboxylic acid or an aromatic carboxylic acid, which may be polybasic or hydroxylated and (d) the balance as inert filler. Specified components (a) are the reaction products of ethylene oxide or propylene oxide or mixtures thereof with phenol, cresols, hydroxydiphenyls (e.g. o- or p-hydroxydiphenyl) or benzylhydroxydiphenyl; the reaction products of C12-C18 fatty alcohols with ethylene oxide or propylene oxide or mixtures thereof, e.g. lauryl, stearyl, palmityl or oleyl polyglycol ethers; lauric acid-glycerol-mono and diesters, palmitic acid glycerol-mono- and -diesters and the stearic acid-glycerol diesters. Specified components (b) are the Mg, Ca, Zn, Mn, Al or Fe salts of lauric stearic, palmitic, margaric oleic and linoleic acids. Specified components (c) are oxalic, maleic, succinic, adipic, malic, citric, phthalic and salicylic acids. Specified components (d) are talc, chalk, kaolin, bentonite, kieselguhr, finely divided silicic acid, mineral oil, olive oil, disodium hydrogen phosphate, naphthalene sulphonate and zinc oxide. Specified organic fungicides are tetramethyl thiuram disulphide, ferric dimethyl dithiocarbamate, manganese ethylene bis-dithiocarbamate, disodium ethylene bis-dithiocarbamate, zinc ethylene bis-dithiocarbamate, zinc dimethyl dithiocarbamate, N - trichloro - methyl mercapto - 4 - cyclohexene - 1,2 - dicarboximide, 2,3 - dichloro - 1,4 - naphthaquinone, 2 - heptadecyl glyoxalidine acetate, the dinitro-(1-methylheptyl)-phenyl crotonates, 1 - chloro - 2,4 - dinitro - naphthalene, N - trichloro - methyl - thio - (dimethyl - amino - sulphonic - acid - anilide) and p - chloro - o - thiocyano - acetophenone.
