Abstract

904,817. Moulding glassware. HOFBAUER, K. March 16, 1961, No. 9708/61. Class 56. The cup and stem of a glass receptacle are produced in a finished state in a press mould by means of a press mandrel in a single working operation. The base of the receptacle may then be pressed on to the still hot stem by means of a stamp. As shown in Fig. 3, the mould comprises a ring b to form the drinking edge p, the main mould part n to form the cup e and stem f and a removable base-piece o to form the stump h of the stem f, the glass being pressed to shape by a plunger g. The base piece o is then replaced by a base piece q and a stamp r forms the base i of the receptacle from the stump h. Alternatively, the hot blank of cup and stem is removed from the press mould and a base joined to the stump h and cut in usual manner.
