Abstract

<PICT:0976986/C1/1> In the manufacture of a glass cup (see Division A4), a gob of glass is delivered to a laterally unsplit female mould 20 with cavities 21 and 22 to form projecting attachment elements, and is formed by lowering a ring die 23 with annular recess 24 and recess 25 to form the rim and top of attachment element and a male die 26 in succession. An opal borosilicate glass may be used and the cup may subsequently be tempered to withstand thermal and mechanical shock.
