Abstract

904,742. Gramophones; auto-loading. LOVE & WEIR Ltd. June 22, 1961 [March 22, 1960], No. 10126/60. Class 40 (2). A gramophone in which a record is pushed into a slot in a casing (not shown) to initiate all subsequent operations has a control member 9, rotatable about a centre 10 against the action of a spring 15 by the pressure of the leading edge of the record R against a cushioned member 14. The edge of the control member has a notch 13 which allows a centre-pin 5 carrying a collar 11 to rise when the record is centred over a turntable 2, the member 9 then being latched by a spring 16, a member 21 being withdrawn from beneath the pick-up 25 by a linkage 24 and drive started by a micro-switch 20. At the end of play, a pick-up arm-controlled linkage 32-34 actuates a micro-switch to energize a solenoid 8 and a second solenoid 27 coupled to the pick-up. Withdrawal of the pin 5 unlatches the member 9 and the record is ejected by the spring 15 and a pin and member 35, 36 restore the pick-up to the " start " position in readiness for the next record. At any time during play, the switch 31 can be operated by a hand control 39 and link 37, to eject the record.
