Abstract
903,550. Valve saw-tooth generating circuits; cathode-ray tube operating circuits. SOC. OREGA ELECTRONIQUE ET MECANIQUE. April 20, 1960 [May 19, 1959], No. 13803/60. Classes 40 (6) and 40 (7). In a cathode-ray tube deflection circuit (e.g. the frame deflection circuit of a television receiver) the deflection coil 11, which is energized from the scanning generator output valve 1 through a transformer 8, is connected in series in the main D.C. supply lead 16 of the equipment for the purpose of receiving a current for centring the deflection. As illustrated the coil is in the negative supply lead between a filter inductance 12 and a resistor 7. As an alternative, the coil may be connected in the positive lead, or may have parts in both leads. The voltage set up across resistor 7 is applied through C.R. network 5, 4, to the cathode of valve 1 to correct for non-linearity introduced in the scan by any mains hum in the supply current. Part of the supply current flows through the secondary winding 10 of transformer 8 and is arranged to compensate for the magnetic induction due to the anode current of valve 1 in the primary winding 9. By this means magnetic saturation is avoided and the transformer may be constructed of normal magnetic materials without an air gap.
