Abstract

903,305. Transformers. SMIT & CO'S. TRANSFORMATORENFABRIEK N.V., WILLEM. Jan. 30, 1959 [Feb. 19, 1958], No. 3463/59. Class 38 (2). A transformer winding is composed of a number of pairs of disc coils A, B, each pair formed by winding together a number (n) of conductors to form each disc coil in a number (s) of concentric sections wound alternately in opposite directions, the turns so formed being connected in a member (p) of parallel circuits so that each such circuit includes turns in n.s. sections of each of the pair of disc P coils. The number of sections s is chosen so that n.s. is a whole number greater than one P. The connections may be so arranged so that the turns of adjacent sections of a disc coil which form the boundaries of the cooling channel between those sections are at the same or nearly the same potential and do not differ greatly in potential from the corresponding turns of the neighbouring, sections of the other disc coil.
