Abstract

[Also in Groups II and XXX] In a plant for the manufacture of concrete there are weigh-hoppers for sand and other aggregate and a weigh-silo 10 for cement discharging at regulatable rates on to an endless band conveyer 12 ; the cement is sandwiched between two layers of aggregate or, if only one aggregate hopper is used, the aggregate is discharged first and the cement ploughed therein. The conveyer is protected by a roof 17 and wind boards not shown, and may be in one or successive sections operating at the same speed. It discharges into a continuous mixer 15 on an elevated platform 14; a regulated quantity of water is also supplied to the mixer which discharges into a storage hopper 16 from which trucks may be filled through a valve operated by the driver. The rates of discharge of the hoppers 10, 11 may be regulated electrically to vary the quality of the concrete, and the storage hopper 16 may be duplicated, the mixer 15 discharging thereinto by means of a two-way shoot having a pneumatically operated flap valve.
