Abstract
900,722. Granaries. WALLER, J. H. DE W. Oct. 25, 1960 [June 20, 1960], No. 21580/60. Class 20 (1). A granary comprises a domed, Fig. 3, or an arched and domed structure, Fig. 1 (not shown), formed of reinforced concrete corrugated in vertical planes to accommodate expansion and contraction of the structure; and having a sealing covering applied thereto constituting a barrier to air or vapour. The vertical crosssections of the dome or arch, and also the corrugation cross-sections, are catenaries or circular arcs; the floor of the granary is flat, Fig. 2 (not shown), or conical; if conical, it may be wholly or partly above ground level, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown). The sealing material may be applied to either or both sides of the concrete structure, and comprises bitumen, or aluminium paint or foil, the latter being secured by a synthetic plastic adhesive. The structure may be heat-insulated by providing double walls. Grain enters the structure through a trap 10, and is withdrawn by suction through a trap 16. Specification 545,334 is referred to.
