[Also in Group XL (a)] A nuclear fuel element 1 is prevented from fluttering in a reactor channel 2 by bi-metallic strips 6 which uncurl as the temperature rises so that at operating temperatures they engage the channel wall, while during a shut-down the element can be removed freely. Strips 9 have a greater thermal expansion than strips 8; the former may be of stainless steel and the latter of mild steel.
