Abstract

899,763. Paper made from synthetic fibres. ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH N.V. July 27, 1960 [Aug. 1, 1959], No. 26157/60. Class 96. Paper is made -from a suspension of fibres of polymethylene-, e.g. polyethylene - terephthalate of viscosity 1.5 to 15 cp., the number of fibres per litre (N) not exceeding p/Lq where p=54x 10<SP>6</SP>, q=2.46, and L=the fibre length or average fibre length in mms. Polyvinyl alcohol or carboxymethyl cellulose may be included as a dispersing agent. The fibres may first be cleaned with ammonium hydroxide, or sodium hydroxide, -borate, -carbonate, -phosphate, -sulphide, -silicate, or -hypochlorite and a wetting-agent. L may be 1¢ to 3¢ mm. and N may be (3, or 9.8) x 10<SP>6</SP>.
