Abstract

898,595. Gyroscopic apparatus. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Feb. 4, 1960 [Feb. 4, 1959], No. 4020/60. Class 97(3). The rotor 6 of a rate of turn gyroscope is driven by a flexible shaft 10 which forms the spring restraint. The motor 9 drives shaft 10 which extends through the hollow rotor shaft 11 and is connected thereto by diaphragm 12, 13, or alternatively by a longitudinal toothed gearing shown dotted at 14. Hollow shaft 11 is conically widened at 15 to allow precession of the rotor 6 and casing 5 about axis 19, a pick-off 16, 17, detecting such precession.
