898,551. Making cycle parts; shearing. HADEN BROS. Ltd. Feb. 4, 1961, No. 4290/61. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). A method of forming embossings on the top of the shell 1 of a cycle fork crown comprises the steps of supporting the shell 1 in a die 3, operating a punch 8 to displace the metal 10 of the shell at least partly by shearing, to the shape desired, and brazing or welding along the sheared edges to reseal the fractured metal. The edges 9 of the punch 8 are of the same contour as the edges 6 of the die 3 so that sharp edges 12 are formed on the shell.
