Abstract

1,100,704. Making crank-shafts. CENTRALNE LABORATORIUM OBROBKI PLASTYCZNEJ. 10 May, 1965 [8 May, 1964; 2 Sept., 1964], No. 19689/65. Heading B3H. A forging press suitable for producing crank-shafts from bar stock includes split upper die parts 3, pivoted by links 21 to a die holder 1, and split lower die parts 4 slidable on a base 5. Movement of the holder 1 downwardly interlocks projections 9 and 10 of the die parts and produces sliding movement of the parts 4 towards each other. Simultaneously with upsetting of the crank-webs by the die parts 3 and 4, a crank-pin is forged by means of a die 13, Fig. 7. To the parts 4 are pivoted shaping jaws 14, Fig. 5, which, upon downward movement of the parts 3, are forced inwardly by means of guiding surfaces 15 to shape the crank-webs 17. The pivotal axes between the links and the die parts 3 are arranged to lie close to the horizontal die parting line.
