A speedometer cable comprises a self-lubricating plastic rod 10 surrounded by braided concentric sheaths 11, 12 of self-lubricating plastic filaments protected by a stationary tube 13 capable of limited bending. End connectors (not shown) transmit torque to and from the members 10, 11, 12. The cable may have three braided sheaths.
