Abstract

897,958. Staging for workmen. ANDERSTON CLYDE (MIDLANDS) Ltd. Nov. 24, 1960 [Dec. 3, 1959], No. 41096/59. Class 20(2) A mobile staging for workmen comprises a frame supporting a platform 21 and moved by means of a wheeled axle 5 driven by a handle 13 at the top of the staging and a shaft 11 and steered by wheels 6 on stub axles 15 connected by an Ackerman linkage 17 and operated by a steering handle 19 at the top of the staging. The driven axle may have brakes. The height of the platform is adjusted by means of hooks 20a each engaging one of a series of slots 1a in each upright 1 of the frame. A step 22 for mounting the staging is normally held clear of the ground by a spring. A tray 27 is provided for tools &c. In a modification, Figs. 6-9 (not shown) the staging comprises a frame constructed similarly to that of Fig. 1 and adjustable telescopically in a second frame mounted on wheels, the control for driving and steering also being telescopic.
