Abstract
897,561. Transistor radio receiving circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 9, 1959 [Dec. 12, 1958], No. 41878/59. Class 40(6). A receiver circuit includes a transistor in reflex connection, into the emitter circuit of which the aerial signal is introduced, and a second transistor mixer oscillator stage for producing an intermediate frequency signal to be returned to the base of the first transistor and again amplified. The input from the aerial is applied over tuned circuit 1 to the transistor 2, operating in the common base mode. The amplified signal from transistor 2 is fed to tuned circuit 3 in the emitter lead of transistor 4 which operates as a selfoscillating mixer, feedback of the local oscillator frequency being made over circuit 5. The I.F. output circuit 6 is connected to the base of transistor 2 operating in the common emitter mode, the amplified I.F. signal from transistor 2 being obtained from the tuned circuit 7. A circuit 8, series resonant at the I.F. is included in the emitter lead of mixer transistor 4. Overdriving of the mixer is avoided by A.G.C. of transistor 2 by means of a variable supply current fed to terminals 9.
