897,503. Cooling and securing dynamoelectric machine rotor coils. ZAVODY V.I. LENINA PLZEN, NARODNI PODNIK. Aug. 13, 1958, No. 26019/58. Class 35. On a dynamo-electric machine rotor having arranged on a body, not shown, a plurality of salient poles, each carrying a respective field coil 2 whose length in the direction of the rotor axis exceeds its width circumferentially of the rotor, there is positioned between the coils of each pair of adjacent poles a baffle 1 which is parallel to the rotor axis, symmetrical about a radial plane passing midway between adjacent poles, and has side walls converging towards each other at their radially inner edges at a greater rate than do the surfaces of the coils so as to form with the coils radially outwardly converging ducts through which flows a cooling medium stream. The baffle may comprise two flat sheets or a V- or a U- shaped sheet, Fig. 2, and may have axiallyextending ends 4, Fig. 9, bent toward the direction of rotation to scoop air into the ducts, and it may be combined with spacers 5, Fig. 11, which maintain the coils in their proper place. The baffle may be of metal, of an electrically insulating or a non-magnetic material, or of metal with an electrically-insulating layer. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 845,750.
