Abstract

897,347. Electronic counting - apparatus. ATOMENERGIKOMMISSIONEN. Jan. 4, 1960 [Jan. 16, 1959], No. 174/60. Class 106 (1). A predetermined counter system including a counter having a plurality of multicathode counting tubes is adapted to produce output control pulses at certain predetermined counts. As described, a counter comprises counting tubes D1-D5, Fig. 1, the " 0 " cathodes being connected to form a group, group A the " 1," " 2 " and " 5 " cathodes are connected to form a group B, and the remaining cathodes are connected to form a group C. The groups are connected to respective points A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>1</SP> of an auxiliary circuit comprising resistors M1, M2, the arrangement being such that a control pulse circuit connected to a terminal K is actuated by a voltage drop in the auxiliary circuit only when precisely one of the cathodes of the group B is activated and none of the cathodes of the group C are activated. In an application, Fig. 3, an event counter is adapted to count recurrent events such as the entering of neutrons into a neutron detector and is preset to produce an output pulse when a required predetermined count is reached. A time counter arranged as in Fig. 1 is adapted to count regularly occurring pulses, but the auxiliary circuit is prevented from actuating the control pulse circuit until a suppressor circuit is released by a pulse from the event counter. On the next registration by the time counter of a count including precisely one digit of the group B, the remaining digits being " O," the control pulse circuit is actuated to stop both the time counter and the event counter.
