Abstract

896,742. Shovel &c. handles. AYTON, H. July 21, 1960 [Aug. 5, 1959], No. 26795/59. Class 61. On a shovel, fork or like implement having a handle adapted to be gripped in two positions one above the other, by the hands of the operator, the handle at the least at the lower of the positions is embraced by a hand grip rotably mounted thereon. As shown a shovel comprises a blade 10 to which is fixed a handle formed of a haft 11 which is provided with a forked upper end 12 between the limbs of which is mounted a rod 13. The haft 11 is loosely embraced by a sleeve 14 which is free to slide along the haft but which is prevented from moving too close to the blade 10 by a collar 15. The rod 13 is loosely embraced by a sleeve 16 which forms a rotable hand grip thereon. In a modification sleeves divided longitudinally into two halves are clipped together about the haft and handle.
