Abstract

The invention comprises 2a -fluoro-17b -hexahydrobenzoyloxy-androst-4-en-3-one and the preparation thereof by esterifying 2a -fluoro-testosterone with a hexahydrobenzoic acid, or a functional derivative thereof, e.g. hexahydrobenzoic acid anhydride or halide. The reaction may be effected in the presence of a condensation agent, e.g. pyridine. Compositions having a pituitary inhibiting action and containing the above compound are administered orally as syrups, elixirs, capsules, dragees, and tablets, rectally in the form of suppositories, or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection in the forms of sterile suspensions in water or in an oil.
