Abstract
The invention comprises dithiophosphonic esters of formula <FORM:0896224/IV (b)/1> where R is alkyl, R1 is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical attached to the phosphorus atom by a direct C-P link, R11 is alkyl and R111 is hydrogen or alkyl. They are prepared by reacting appropriate alkylmercapto-benzyl halides with salts of O-alkyl dithiophosphonic acids, preferably in an inert solvent. The products are pesticides.ALSO:Insecticidal compositions comprise phosphonodithioic esters of formula <FORM:0896224/VI/1> where R is alkyl, R1 is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical attached to the phosphorus atom by a direct C-P link, R11 is alkyl and R111 is hydrogen or alkyl, along with a solid or liquid carrier. Other insecticides and/or fertilizers may be present.
