Abstract

896,166. Retractive switches. WESTING- HOUSE AIR BRAKE CO. Sept. 12, 1958 [Sept. 16, 1957], No. 29250/58. Addition to 765,499. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XVIII] A vehicle weight measuring device has a stop-block 4 formed with a lower contoured surface positioned in a slot in a rail. The lower end of a pin 6 in the block pivotally mounts a lever 7 which contacts the lower surface of the slot at one end, and at the other end, the counterweighted end of a second lever 18 which adjustably carries on an end insulating plate a number of movable contacts I8j. The lever 18 pivots on a pin 19 connected to an L-shaped support 21 secured to a plate 10a retaining the block in the slot. The lever carries fixed contacts 27 on insulating blocks having springs 26 contacting contacts 18j. The individual gaps between the contacts are adjustable to different spacings, each pair of contacts giving a separate weight indication. A spring 20 between the support 21 and the lever 18 urges the ends of levers 7, 18 into contact. A casing encloses the contact assembly, and the plates 10a, 105 seal the connection between the rail and the assembly. Specification 787,548 also is referred to.
