Abstract
895,832. Valve relay circuits. KERR Ltd., GORING, and KERR, B. G. May 29, 1958 [May 30, 1957], No. 171714/57. Class 40(6). [Also in Group XXXVI] In a liquid level gauge (see Group XXXVI), a valve relay circuit is controlled by variation in the capacitance of a pair of electrodes. In Fig. 2 of the Provisional Specification the upper plates of capacitors 28, 29 are formed by the sensitive electrodes and are connected in a bridge circuit fed from an electroncoupled oscillator 22 via lead 12. When the bridge is unbalanced by the approaching level the output is taken from the resonant circuit 31, rectified at 16 and fed via lead 12 to operate a valve relay circuit 17, 18. Operation of relay 18 energizes lamp 19. The D.C. voltage developed by the lamp current in lead 25, provides positive feedback for valve 17 and hence more definite relay operation. Fig. 1 (not shown) of the Complete Specification relates to a relay circuit in which the bridge containing the sensitive electrodes is connected in the feedback path of an amplifier which becomes oscillatory when the bridge is unbalanced.
