895,505. Hand-tool handles. MALONE, F. C. Nov. 11, 1958, No. 36133/58. Class 61. [Also in Groups XXVIII and XL(c)] In a method of interlocking tubular members, a tube, 12, Fig. 6, having equiangularly spaced and outwardly directed prominence 18 is inserted into a tube 14 having corresponding inwardly directed prominences 24 until surfaces 22 are in abutment, and relatively rotating the tubes to cause mutual engagement of the inclined surfaces of the prominences to draw the tubes together and effect a binding and locking action. The joint may be used in extensible and collapsible handles for cleaning implements, fishing rods, radio aerials, tripods and suction hoses. A sealing ring, e.g. of rubber, may be inserted between the surfaces 22. In another embodiment, the inner tube 36, Fig. 10, may be locked in a number of separate positions with respect to the outer tube 30, each group of prominences 32, 34 comprising three equiangularly spaced individual prominences. Tube 36 may be marked with spaced circumferential bands to facilitate alignment of the prominences.
