895,443. Coated fabrics. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 2, 1959 [June 2, 1958], No. 17502/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 140. Coated sheet material having an embossed or textured finish with a high resistance to flaw cut at elevated temperatures is produced by applying a coating composition consisting of a vinyl polymer or copolymer or mixture thereof as a paste to a moving carrier in the form of an endless belt or roller patterned in relief so as to fill the valleys while leaving the remainder of the carrier surface substantially free from the composition, heating the composition until it gels, passing the carrier and the sheet material through a pair of nip rollers to combine the patterned composition with the sheet material, immediately cooling, and stripping the coated sheet material from the carrier. The composition may be applied to the carrier with the use of a suitably adjusted doctor knife. The term " sheet material " is defined as flexible woven, knitted or felted material in sheet form composed of natural or synthetic fibres or a mixture of such fibres. The sheet material may be coated on one or both sides. Specification 788,547 is referred to.
