Abstract
895,377. Filters. PERMUTIT CO. Ltd. (Permutit A.G.). Feb. 13, 1961, No. 5269/61. Class 46. Filtrate is withdrawn from a granular filter bed 2, Fig. 1, through a series of hollow tubular elements 12, Fig. 3, each extending transversely through one wall of a pipe 7, the pipes 7 forming a grid with a collecting channel 8, Fig. 1. Preferably each element 12 has slots 13 and a threaded flange 16. The flange of one element receives a bush 17 on to which is screwed subsequently the flange of an opposed element to assemble the pair in the pipe 7 as shown. Liquid to be filtered is introduced at both 5 and 6. Compressed air for cleaning is supplied at 11. Each element may extend completely across the pipe, being open at each end.
