893,258. Filters. USTAV PRO VYZKUM MOTOROVYCH VOZIDEL PRAHA. Sept. 15, 1959 [Sept. 15, 1958], No. 31411/59. Class 46. A filter for purifying liquids comprises inserts 3a to 3 f of porous resilient material (e.g. polyvinyl chloride) separated by washers 2 and compressed within the housing 1 by the displaceable piston 4 which is moved by the screw 9, located in the cover 8. The contaminated liquid enters the filtering chamber 6 at A and the purified liquid leaves at B. The inserts 3a to 3 f may be cleared by releasing the pressure exerted by the piston 4 and back flushing.
