Abstract
894,667. Meat pickling syringes. PETERSEN, F. H. Sept. 15, 1960 [Sept. 18, 1959], No. 31872/60. Class 49. [Also in Group XXVIII] In a syringe for injecting pickling liquid into meat, consisting of a piston cylinder registering at its end with a stout, hollow needle having lateral discharge holes, the inlet end of the needle is attached to the piston, and the needle carries a stop for limiting penetration into the meat. Pickling liquid is supplied to the cylinder 1 by way of a nipple 2 and a non-return valve 4, a spring 6 causing the piston 5 to take up the position shown; on inserting the syringe into the meat, penetration of the needle 9 is stopped by a collar 11, and continued pressing of the syringe then causes compression of the spring and passage of pickling liquid by way of a non-return valve 7 through the needle perforations 12 into the meat; on pulling the syringe out of the meat, the spring 6 recovers, a fresh charge of pickling liquid enters through the nipple 2, and, when the needle is fully out of the cylinder, the needle draws clear of the meat.
