868,134. Hypodermic syringes. APIS INJECTORS Ltd., and FORBES, R. G. Jan. 23, 1959 [Oct. 23, 1957], No. 33079/57. Class 81 (2). A syringe cartridge 11 has a needle 15 embedded in a flanged synthetic plastic holder 14, the holder, a flanged synthetic plastic needle cap 16 and a washer 19 being secured to the mouth of the cartridge by a flanged metal cap 20. The needle 15 may be moulded in the holder 14 which is tapered and may be made of nylon. The cap 16 has an internal taper corresponding to the holder on which it is a press fit. The needle point may be embedded in a resilient, e.g. rubber, insert 21. The holder and cap have flanges 17, 18 which are secured against the cartridge mouth 13 by the metal cap 20, the resilient washer 19 being interposed. In an alternative construction, the needle cap is tubular, its end remote from the cartridge being heat-sealed around the needle point. The end of the cartridge remote from the needle is closed by a piston having a projection for engagement with a plunger. To use the needle, part of the needle cap is cut off.
