Abstract

A catalyst, which is useful for flameless combustion of hydrocarbons, is prepared by treating asbestos cloth with a solution of a Pt, Pd or Rh compound and heating the treated cloth to deposit active metal. In examples, an aqueous solution of H2PtCl6 preferably containing sugar was used, or alternatively an alcoholic solution of H2PtCl6 containing ethyl acetoacetate. U.S.A.
