Abstract

A cigarette tip is impregnated with a composition comprising an alkyl- or hydroxy alkyl-amine of a boiling-point not below 60 DEG C. a double salt of the amine with an inorganic salt of a metal of the iron group, and a colloidal hydroxide of the metal suspended in the amine. The composition is prepared by reacting the metal salt with excess amine in water to form the double salt, interrupting the reaction by adding a liquid carrier, e.g. methyl alcohol or ethyl acetate, pressing heating to form the metal hydroxide, and removing the water.
