Abstract
893,888. Dental handpieces. SIEMENSREINIGER-WERKE A.G. Dec. 17, 1959 [Dec. 19, 1958], No. 42967/59. Class 81 (2). In an angle handpiece, the shank 33 of a drilling-tool is retained in a hollow shaft 31 in the head 1 by a sleeve 32 which has an annular seat member 34 at one end force-fitted in the shaft 31 and a similar member 35 at the other end axially slidable in the shaft but substantially without play in the radial direction, the intermediate portion 31 of the sleeve, of reduced internal and external diameter, having longitudinal slits 37-40, Fig. 5, the inner edges 37<SP>1</SP>-40<SP>1</SP> of which bear radially resiliently against the shank 33 to retain it in the shaft 31. The rear end of the shaft 31 is closed by a plug 45 spaced from the member 35. In the embodiment shown, the shaft 31 is a bore within the rotor 12 of a compressed air turbine.
