Abstract
893,864. Relieving heads. ACCLES & POLLOCK Ltd. June 1, 1960 [June 17, 1959], No. 20740/59. Class 83 (4). A relieving head for use on a draw bench comprises three rollers 21, each rotatable about its own axis and about an axis which is parallel to the axis of the drawn tube, and adjustable about a radial axis whereby the roller axis can be inclined to the axis of the ube. The rollers are each mounted on a slide 19 and each slide has a peg which projects into a three-track spiral cam 24 which can be rotated relative to the slides by a worm 28 meshing with teeth 27 on the periphery of the cam ring. Angular adjustment of the rollers is by rotating the stem 20 after a securing nut 22 has been slackened. Screw stops 29 prevent outward movement of the rollers. The whole of the relieving head is connected to a pulley and is rotated by a motor and a speed related to the speed of drawing so that the entire surface of the tube is worked in a helical path by the rollers. The rollers have a cylindrical central portion and curved or tapered end portions, or the roller may be barrel-shaped.
