Abstract

893,138. Portable fountains. ORME, G. R. Nov. 23, 1960 [Nov. 24, 1959], No. 39764/59. Class 69 (1). [Also in Group XI] A portable fountain comprises a bowl 1 with central upwardly-projecting housing 2 containing an electricallyoperated pump 8 with a water inlet 10 in the side of the housing and an outlet 7 fitted with a nozzle or jet device at the top of the housing. The housing 2 is dome-shaped and integral with the opaque, plastic bowl 1. The nozzle 20 comprises an upper cap 24 with three jets 25 and fits rotatably on a shank portion 26 which is retained on an adaptor 4 by a spring ring. An eccentric hole 32 in the shank 26 can be positioned by rotating the latter manually relative to an eccentric hole 34 in the adaptor 4 to control the flow of water. The jets are illuminated by a lamp 17 which shines through three plastic lenses 37 set in the housing 2 (see Group XI). The pump may comprise a solenoid and a permanent magnet co-operating with a sliding piston (not shown).
