A flexible, heavy current cable for welding comprises bunches of conductors in concentric layers about a core bunch Bc<L>, each bunch comprising helically wound solid wire, e.g. copper, strands S, the even number of bunches comprising a layer being wound alternately left and right-handed. The whole is preferably impregnated with silicone or molybdenum disulphide lubricant.
