Abstract

891,956. Juke-boxes. SEEBURG CORPORATION. Nov. 13, 1959,No. 38595/59. Class 40 (2). A linear-magazine juke-box, Fig. 1, is associated with a 10 x 10 magnetic core storage matrix 27 which controls selection of the records. Bus-bars 22, 23 intersect an array of 100 cores 20 and may be energized by two sets of selector buttons, two " aiding " currents through each core being necessary to change the polarity of its magnetization. The bus-bars 23 are further divided into " odd " and " even " corresponding to the two sides of each record, selected according to the direction of movement of a reversable, carriage-mounted playing unit 13. A conductor 34, energized by carriage contacts, passes an oppositely-directed current pulse to " reset " a selected core as the carriage passes and a conductor 38, common to all cores and hence coupled to any operative conductor 34, operates a flip-flop (Fig. 5, not shown) to halt the carriage and initiate playing operations in a conventional manner.
