891,465. Crating bottles &c. DAWSON BROS. Ltd. April 13, 1959 [April 12, 1958], No. 11688/58. Class 94(1). [Also in Group XXX] Bottles or like containers fed between guide rails 4, 5 from a conveyer 1 on to a lift table 3 are located beneath a gripper head g by means of a stop 13, the table then being raised to a level slightly above the stop 13 so that, when the gripped bottles are transferred horizontally in the direction A, Fig. 2, to a crating or other machine, any bottle in the group not gripped will be swept off the table over the stop 13 with its group. The stop 13 incorporates a line check 14 operated through a contact 15 to control the supply of compressed air to a ram 7, 8 for raising the table which is provided with stops 12 on a screw shaft 10 sliding in fixed guide brackets 11. In a modification, the bottles are transferred in a direction at right angles to the direction A and the side rail 4 acts also as a stop the lift table in this case being provided with slots in alignment with the guide rails to allow the table to be raised above the rails.
